Check In, Chill Out: The Joys of a Staycation Getaway

Though Steve W. and his fiancé reside in the Cincinnati area, they have, over the past year, availed themselves of several local “staycations” by checking into The Lytle Park Hotel where they enjoyed luxurious accommodations and spa-like amenities.

“We have been using these little getaways to escape the craziness of the world we live in now,” he says. “We have fallen in love with the hotel, including the amazing staff, rooms, the rooftop lounge and the first-floor lounge/restaurant.”

According to Julie Kowalewski, regional director of sales for The Lytle Park Hotel, he is not the only one relishing these staycation getaways — a lot of weekend traffic is driven by local residents looking to treat themselves to a stand-alone retreat where they can enjoy every luxury without having to step foot off the premises. Guests may choose to relax in the beautiful lobby bar that features a 5,000-pound custom-made jeweled light fixture (inspired by a queen’s tiara) created specifically for the hotel. Or they may grab a cocktail or savor the fine dining, where every dish is seasonal and scratch-made. A hugely popular spot is Vista at Lytle Park, the rooftop bar with stunning views of Lytle Park and downtown Cincinnati. The fully retractable glass roof, along with heaters and outdoor fireplaces, allows the Vista to remain open year-round. When guests are ready to escape to their room, they can appreciate amenities such as Frette linen, Diptyque bath amenities, Nespresso coffee, and plush bathrobes and slippers in each guest room, making it a true oasis.

Some folks have checked in not to chill out but to rev up in terms of productivity. Kowalewski mentions a freelance photographer with four children who are being taught virtually.

“We provided a retreat where she could be productive to accomplish her work and then relax in luxury,” says Kowalewski.

Despite the pandemic, the public is still booking weddings, rehearsal dinners and other social events.

“People still want to move forward with milestone celebrations, but they’re doing so in a more intimate way, on a smaller scale,” says Kowalewski. “The Lytle Park Hotel, with timeless sophistication and genuine, personalized service is the perfect setting for an intimate event. What folks are finding is that Plan B is A+ because the intimate setting allows them to focus on what’s truly important about the day. One groom recently posted on Instagram, ‘Last Saturday I got married in a small ceremony in celebration with our immediate family. It wasn’t the big event we had thought we’d be having, but in all honesty, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The staff at The Lytle Park Hotel deserve a special shoutout. Everything was perfect and everything about this hotel is beautiful.’”
