Sculpt Your Summer Body

Sculpt Your Summer Body

You’ve changed your diet and you’ve been working out regularly, but that stubborn belly fat still won’t disappear. It might be time to try a different solution, and with summer fast approaching, there’s no better time to turn to a medical spa for the latest in body sculpting treatments.

Dermatology and Skin Care Associates in Mason is promoting two cutting-edge services designed to help patients get the look they want without invasive procedures. One promotes fat loss while the other tones muscle, giving patients a one-two punch to help them get the body of their dreams.

The center attributes the growth in body sculpting procedures to improved results patients have seen in recent years after utilizing such treatments combined with growing consumer interest in investing in physical self-improvement. The team points to a statistic from the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery showing that body sculpting was among the top five nonsurgical, noninvasive procedures performed in 2018.

Dermatology and Skin Care Associates also wants to encourage men to consider body sculpting, as men are typically underrepresented among medical spa clients. With the latest body sculpting procedures focused on building muscle and simulating a workout, the results can fit in line with many men’s physical appearance goals.

Here are two of the newest body sculpting procedures the clinic is offering:

truSculpt flex: This muscle-sculpting device from cosmetic and aesthetic laser equipment manufacturer Cutera can be personalized treatments for each patient’s current level of fitness, body shape and overall goals. The device utilizes a technique called multi-directional stimulation, which uses an electrical muscle stimulation mechanism to target specific muscle groups.

In other words, it feels like a workout — just electromagnetically. The device is applied six times during an hour-long appointment, and can work on abs, thighs and arms, among other common trouble spots.

truSculpt flex features three treatment mode options designed to replicate workouts that feel like intensified twisting, squatting and crunch actions. “Prep mode” is the warm-up mode that combines twisting and stretching movements; “Tone mode” uses contracting, holding and relaxing motions to increase strength and endurance; and “Sculpt mode” consists of rapid, deep and sequential muscle contractions to build muscle mass and increase basal metabolic rate.

This is the best option for men and women who want that “six-pack look.”

truSculpt 3D: Also from Cutera, this device uses a non-invasive, Monopolar RF system to deliver targeted, repeated and uniform sculpting of problem areas. It works to decrease body fat circumference and eliminate fat cells through heat therapies applied to fat tissue, but at a comfortable surface temperature for patients. Unlike other popular therapies that focus on freezing fat, truSculpt 3D heat-based technology helps melt fat cells, which are absorbed and eliminated naturally through the body.

Cutera touts an average of 24% fat reduction in a short treatment time over a large treatment zone and advertises that one 60-minute session “provides clinically proven results in the most common treatment areas — the abdomen and flanks.”

“You won’t get 100 pounds lighter, but for those stubborn fat areas, you will get that kick to help with fat burning and loss,” said Dr. Elizabeth Muennich, a dermatologist with Dermatology and Skin Care Associates. “This focuses on specific areas and there is the possibility of losing 1 to 2 inches from your frame.”

For best results, patients can combine truSculpt 3D, which targets fat loss, with truSculpt flex, which builds muscle.

In addition to the truSculpt procedures, Dermatology and Skin Care Associates offers Kybella, an FDA-approved treatment injected by a doctor to remove fat or submental fullness. This is recommended for elimination of submental fat, which is located at the neck and jawline, to help remove the appearance of a double chin. Kybella can also be used for body sculpting in the abdomen area.

Dr. Elizabeth Muennich welcomes interested clients to call to schedule a consultation with a doctor to discuss goals, options and pricing. The clinic also offers the typical array of skin care services and medical dermatology procedures that address skin care issues.
