American Heart Association Heart Ball
Thanks to our strategic partners, the American Heart Association accelerates research, engages community members, focuses on population health, and improves standards of care across Greater Cincinnati and beyond. Our commitment to scientific research in our own backyard is unwavering and we are currently investing over $8.6 million in research grants at the University of Cincinnati Hospital and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. We are proud to support these research efforts to fight COVID-19-related cardiovascular issues in addition to heart disease and stroke, our nation’s #1 killer and #1 disabler of all Americans.
Equitable health and social determinants of health are the focus of this year’s Heart Ball campaign. Where you live can determine how long you live. Where you live is about so much more than your address, it’s about your opportunities. Two neighborhoods as close as one mile apart can produce drastically different life expectancies for their residents. Why? A neighborhood that is surrounded by healthy food options, clean air, safe parks and easy access to preventative and emergency care provides the building blocks for longer, healthier lives. But unfortunately, not all neighborhoods have access to these opportunities.
