FAMILY-BUILDER: Two Generations Perfecting Custom Homes

Eagle Custom Homes, one of the most distinguished homebuilders in Greater Cincinnati, has always been a family affair. Founded in 1994 by Doug Feagles and his wife, Sharon, the duo has been building some of the most distinguished homes in the area. Now a second-generation company, the couple’s son, Stephen, is committed to building on the legacy his parents started.

Getting his start early on, Stephen began sweeping out homes and cleaning up job sites when he was in middle school. Continuing to work for the company throughout high school, he learned to work in construction and how to manage and lead a small team on the jobsite. After obtaining degrees in marketing and professional sales from the University of Cincinnati, Stephen moved to Austin, Texas, where he served as a marketing coordinator for Pulte Homes. Since moving back to Cincinnati, Stephen now works as a project manager, tackling every- thing from marketing to working directly with clients.

Eagle Custom Homes is a family company, but Stephen did not want the job simply handed to him. “I wanted experience and validation,” he says. “I wanted to establish credibility to my name.”

As a family company, it’s important to work together as a cohesive unit to form connections with clients. “When I was a kid,” Stephen says, “dinner time was always called ‘Staff Meeting.’ It just doesn’t stop with us.” Providing great value to people and learning new things is a shared passion between the whole family. While Doug Feagles is working to provide function and innovation to the homes he is building, Stephen is filling out the roles of marketer, sales coordinator and project manager. His mother, Sharon, is the coordinator that keeps the company an effi- cient and reliable builder. The combined value that each member of the family brings is one of the greatest assets to the company.

For potential buyers seeking a more personal experience, they need to look no further than this family of 25-plus years of distinguished experience in modern design and a simplified building process. “As an established company,” Stephen says, “we have the ability to find lots in places not commonly seen on online real estate marketplaces. We find a lot where we know the buyer is going to want to be. We create custom small home communities with land and nice views. That’s where our niche is and how we set ourselves apart.

“We want to make sure what we offer, what we are telling and show- ing you, is what you get,” Stephen adds. “We build an amazing house. We want to make sure we are doing everything that is expected of a custom homebuilder.”

With the successful Overlook community already firmly established in Madeira, Stephen is looking forward to the springtime completion of Porters Heath, a small community in Maineville com- prised of two- to five-acre lots.

“It’s the perfect balance between country living and being close to modern things, to the city,” Stephen says. The idea is simplified in the tagline: “Today’s country living.” The community is established a couple of miles away from the nearest grocery stores and popular shopping sites.

“We see this as a community for empty nesters and people who want to create that forever home, a good place for family members to come over and enjoy beautifully wooded lots and a community pond,” Stephen says. “It’s a nice area just to breathe. It’s not a production com- munity where there is one house on top of another. It’s so personal."

Eagle Custom Homes offers personality and convenience, along with experience in high quality and well-balanced simplicity with a modern touch, to each home they build.

“It’s the small things,” Stephen adds. “We’re just so passionate about building homes.”
