We are so proud to introduce you to this year’s Influential Women of Cincinnati. These women are using their unique talents and abilities to make our region a better place. Whether it’s starting nonprofits, creating new communities, or feeding and caring for the less fortunate, these women are making a difference.
Q. WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR CAREER?
A. I am a wife, mom, business and community leader, and my goal is to inspire others to achieve their dreams. I grew up in North Carolina and joined Procter & Gamble after graduating from the University of North Carolina. Over the last 15 years with P&G, I have lived in multiple locations, from Washington, D.C., to Cincinnati, Seattle and places in between. I have worked in a variety of business units and roles at P&G. That’s the biggest benefit of a career at a large global leader like P&G — the ability to have multiple careers and leadership opportunities within one company. I have lived in three locations in Cincinnati throughout my career, from Oakley to Anderson, and each has provided a home and community for my family.
Q. WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT?
A. My life’s goal is to help and enable people to realize and achieve their dreams. My career with P&G and my involvement with the Network of Executive Women, NEW, has given me that opportunity to make a broad impact. I have been involved with NEW for 10 years and am currently the executive co-chair for the Cincinnati region. NEW is a professional community committed to advancing all women, growing business and transforming workplaces through the power of community. It is a national organization with over 14,000 members representing over 900 organizations. Our goals are to develop and empower women leaders; provide insights and solutions that support business transformation, and champion equal opportunity, advancement, inclusion and pay; and be a support network for every woman leader. Business leaders today need to not only lead at work, but also lead and help within the community.
Q. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT CINCINNATI?
A. Cincinnati has such a vibrancy and life to it. There are a variety of things to do in and around the city, and at every life stage, this city offers great experiences and activities. When my husband and I moved here as a young married couple, living in Oakley offered so much to young professionals — from the trails to the breweries, restaurants, and shopping. Now raising two young kids, neighborhoods like Madeira and Anderson have provided us with wonderful communities with great schools, parks and fun activities that our family enjoys today.
Q. WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE DREAMS AND PLANS TO MAKE CINCINNATI A BETTER PLACE?
A. I would love to see Cincinnati become a hub of innovation and entrepreneurship. We have a diverse and engaged community, major innovation-focused companies which are headquartered here and new ones moving here, and a vibrant startup community. This city is a center for innovation and entrepreneurs. I see a very bright future for Cincinnati!
