Influential Women of Cincinnati: Jill Morenz

Q WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR CAREER?

I came to Aviatra Accelerators from stints at two other local nonprofits, most recently with Northern Kentucky’s Catalytic Fund, and I’ve always had my own business, too. Aviatra represented the perfect opportunity to combine those two types of experiences to help women entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses.

Q WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR YOUR FIRST YEAR IN THIS ROLE?

I’m excited to join such a well-respected organization that has helped so many female entrepreneurs in the region with their businesses. The opportunities are endless but my primary goals include diversifying Aviatra’s funding streams, increasing engagement for Aviatra alumni and expanding Aviatra’s reach in the region (including our Dayton presence) and beyond.

We’ll also be holding several bootcamp-style programs, called EXPLORE, for early-stage entrepreneurs to validate their ideas and learn to set up their businesses for success. Additionally, we will offer our signature LAUNCH program for women whose businesses are between one and three years old. LAUNCH is like a mini-MBA program customized to each woman’s needs. There are nine modules that dive deep into the essentials of running a business. The program culminates in a live pitch competition.

This year, we are premiering our SOAR series, which includes workshops, happy hours and more, all on topics that are helpful to women at any stage of their business.

Our other exciting opportunities include getting our online course, Aviatra 365, into the hands of women who need it to start building their dream businesses.

Q WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT CINCINNATI?

I love this region. I’ve been here for about 13 years and love its beauty, accessibility and friendly people. It seems that everyone I meet is working hard on something meaningful. It’s a very inspiring, supportive atmosphere.

Q WHAT’S THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE EVER BEEN GIVEN?

My parents raised my sister and me to be independent, hardworking people. Our dad’s mantra is, “Everything will be okay, and if it’s not, we’ll handle it.” This mantra has helped me maintain a positive, can-do attitude that translates into my work and home life; I’ve also instilled that outlook in my sons. The community we’re creating at Aviatra reflects that attitude as we build a support system for our women, ensuring they can achieve their goals.
