Seton High School: Faith, Academic Excellence, Leadership & Service

In the tradition of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and founded in the mission of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, Seton High School develops a diverse population of young women for a life of faith, service and leadership, and engages them in achieving academic excellence in a college preparatory environment.

Seton High School’s mission, values, strong academics and true sense of spirit and sisterhood are why thousands of young women have chosen to become Seton Saints.

Faith

We integrate our strong Catholic faith into every aspect of our school. Whether it’s daily morning prayer, school-wide liturgy, retreats or extracurricular activities, faith formation is an integral part of Seton’s culture. Teachers and staff are committed to educating the whole student, and we are proud that our students are empowered by their faith. Establishing a solid foundation of faith is paramount in shaping strong, dedicated women.

Academic Excellence

Seton is proud to offer an exceptional academic program that challenges students to excel both in and outside the classroom. Apart from our highly competitive Honors Program, students are placed in either Honors or College Preparatory classes. They are immersed in a technology-rich environment that prepares them for life beyond high school. Every student participates in ACT Test Prep as a part of their regular studies. Students have the opportunity to choose from 14 Advanced Placement courses (AP), eight of which are offered for early college credit through the University of Cincinnati and the College Credit Plus Program on our campus. The courses are taught based on the college curriculum that students would receive on a college campus, allowing students to earn over 63 college credits upon graduation.

A flexible, modified block schedule allows students to take challenging academic courses, and every student has additional opportunities to grow as a leader and member of the Seton community. Students participate in leadership formation, a speaker series, House Government activities and community service experiences.

Leadership

At Seton, all students are expected to take leadership roles — big or small — and they exceed expectations each year.

“Students can be leaders in the classroom, on a sports field, in extracurricular clubs and activities, on stage and in their communities,” says Seton High School President Kathy Allen Ciarla. “Seton Saints graduate with skills, confidence and moral grounding to lead the way onto their chosen colleges and career paths. With 12 fine arts programs, 12 varsity sports and more than 30 extracurricular activities, there is no shortage of growth opportunities.”

Seton High School takes pride in its House Government System, where students are grouped into four groups, or houses, with equal representation of seniors, juniors, sophomores and freshmen. Within each house, students participate in mentor groups that develop relationships between students and further foster spirit and sisterhood. Additionally, the houses compete for the Charity Cup, awarded to the house with the most points throughout the year based on faith, academics, leadership and service.

Service

Whether far away or right here in Price Hill, Seton students are aware of the impact they can make when they live a life of service. Students and alumnae are known for their willingness to give back to their communities. It is emphasized that every individual should live as Christ did — serving and caring for others with various needs throughout the world. Many service opportunities are available to students, including parishes, nonprofit organizations and mission trips.

Sisterhood

Seton students find that the supportive culture provided by the administration, teachers and staff helps them become critical thinkers and leaders. There is a genuine sense of sisterhood and pride. Students discover their strengths, use and develop their unique gifts and talents, and truly embody the spirit of Seton!
