What do a former math teacher who enjoys baking chocolate chip cookies with her grandchildren, a retired Army veteran who spends hours tending to his meticulously cultivated garden, and a 73-year-old couple who ski the slopes of Zermatt every January have in common? They each have a unique story.

“It’s very important that we get to know each resident personally so when we’re providing this experience, it’s tailored to the indi- vidual,” Ida Hecht, executive director of Anthology of Anderson Township, says.
Since opening in 2019, Anthology of Anderson Township has strived to make a positive impact on the lives of its seniors. Each resident is given an IN2L (It’s Never Too Late) tablet. These portable tablets let residents engage in a variety of activities, which include reading, watching classic television shows, updating social media ac- counts and browsing travelogues. Residents can also use the tablets to schedule Zoom or FaceTime meetings with their families.
“The IN2L tablet is a cool device that helps alleviate some of the cabin fever our residents are experiencing,” Hecht explains. “It’s a great way to keep them occupied. They particularly enjoy choosing colors and photos to create personalized pages.”
IN2L tablets come equipped with a unique call system that includes GPS tracking. If a resident presses the call button from anywhere with- in the Anderson Township community, staff members — who carry tablets of their own — will be alerted and informed of the resident’s exact location.
Anthology of Anderson Township is dedicated to ensuring residents remain active, while also staying safe, during the COVID-19 pandem- ic. Amazon Echos let seniors relax to music or listen to book readings. Small groups gather daily for activities that include exercise classes, arts and crafts, or even happy hours (mask-wearing is required and so- cial distancing rules apply). Families can schedule half-hour, in-person visits four days a week. Up to two family members are allowed, per visit. Being able to interact with their loved ones has made a huge dif- ference in the residents’ quality of life, Hecht notes.
Anthology is opening a brand-new community in Blue Ash later this summer. Located beside the beautiful, 130-acre Summit Park, Anthology of Blue Ash’s residents are guaranteed to be part of a vibrant community.
“Summit Park is amazing and has so much to offer. There are summer concerts, which our residents can enjoy from their own balco- nies. They can visit the farmer’s market, the dog park, or any number of bars and restaurants,” Tom Rotz, executive director of Anthology of Blue Ash, states. “As a resident, you won’t feel isolated. There are so many things you can participate in and enjoy.”
Anthology of Blue Ash is also implementing several state-of-the-art technologies. In addition to IN2L tablets, residents will be given high- tech key fobs that they can use when entering and leaving their homes. Like the IN2L tablets, these key fobs feature call buttons that, when pressed, will alert the staff to a resident’s location anywhere inside the community.
“It will be less invasive since staff members won’t have to constantly go to the residents’ apartments to check up on them,” Rotz explains. “Our seniors will be able to maintain their privacy while still being kept safe.”
Anthology of Blue Ash is currently taking reservations and encourages potential residents to schedule a visit. Both the Blue Ash and the Anderson Township locations offer a variety of spacious, senior-friendly floor plans, ranging from one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and studio apartments. Anthology of Anderson Township has assisted living and memory care, while the new community in Blue Ash will offer independent living, assisted living and memory care.
