CINCINNATI, Ohio—The Dragonfly Grand Gala: Summer Nights, presented by Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, was a festive night welcoming back donors, supporters, and Dragonfly families for its first major fundraiser since Covid-19 health mandates were lifted. The Grand Gala raised more than $285,000 for The Dragonfly Foundation to support its programs which provide ongoing support, help families with urgent needs, and provide caring, nurturing, and transformative experiences.
The Dragonfly Grand Gala celebrated its brave Dragonfly families with 265 guests in attendance. Honored during the program were local healthcare heroes from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, among other medical professionals who were attendance at the Gala, for their work on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, their innovative research, and their work with pediatric cancer patients every day.
The Dragonfly Foundation also honored Mayfield Brain and Spine with The Forty-Four Award for its unwavering commitment, passion, and enthusiasm for The Dragonfly Foundation and its mission to support the families of pediatric cancer patients. Through the efforts of many at Mayfield Brain and Spine, families of pediatric cancer patients have a home-away-from-home at Dragonfly’s headquarters located at 506 Oak Street, only a few blocks away from their loved ones and the many caregivers at Cincinnati Children’s. The beautiful Victorian-style home that Dragonfly now calls “The Landing”, was Mayfield’s primary business location from 1953 until 2015.
The evening’s program was capped off with The Barnes Family speaking about their family’s cross-country move from Alaska to Cincinnati to receive treatment for their son after he was diagnosed with DIPG in 2018.
The night’s events were emceed by WLWT’s News Anchor Kelly Rippin and Meteorologist Randi Rico. Entertainment was provided by local artist Cybele and guitarist Billy Larkin.
