Your Timeline for Bridal Beauty

When the question has been popped and the wedding planning begins, one thing to consider is your timeline for beauty treatments. Planning salon treatments to both pamper and prepare a wedding party is a delicate thing – plan too early and a manicure could be ruined, but plan too late and an eyebrow wax could cause puffy skin for photos. For each treatment, brides should follow a timeline to avoid mishaps and make the most of their experience in the spa.

Shannon Wenstrup, bridal coordinator and events manager at Mitchell’s Salon & Day Spa, helps brides work through their schedule to ensure everything is on time and managed perfectly. Here is her recommended timeline that brides should follow:

When the planning calms down and the countdown to the big day can be measured in weeks rather than months, it’s time to relax and schedule some personal time.

Check out the slideshow on the top right for all of Wenstrup's advice on how to schedule some much-needed relaxation time before the big day!

Begin scheduling a consultation with the stylist and makeup artist who will begin your beauty regimen. They will give their professional opinions to make you look and feel absolutely gorgeous the day of the wedding.

Plan a bachelorette party and/or bridal shower or just a fun pampering spa day for you and your best ladies. It'll help relieve stress, introduce your friends to each other if they aren't already in the same circle and ease whatever tensions might exist long before they have a chance to create issues.

Begin a bi-weekly manicure session. Everyone will want to see the ring, so make sure your hands are in tip-top shape.

Also, it's smart to begin a waxing regimen. This will slow the hair growth and avoid possible breakouts and redness due to sensitivity. Waxing and/or threading should be maintained every 4-6 weeks with the final touch up 3-5 days before the wedding.

Time for a trial run! It’s time to bring your vision for your wedding to life by doing a practice run-through of likes and dislikes. Bring in your headpiece and/or veil to see the overall look.

Schedule your facial and hair removal services, plus final color and cut. A facial is a great way to give the skin a wonderful glow and leaves the skin in great condition to apply a flawless makeup application. Waxings are also suggested to allow any redness from the waxing to calm down. We also offer threading as an alternative to waxing for those who are extra sensitive. The final hair color and cut will leave the hair fresh and beautiful.

Relax with a massage and have a manicure and pedicure with your wedding party. A massage is a great way to relax and de-stress from the buildup to the event. A manicure and pedicure with your wedding party is a fun way to begin festivities. Mitchell’s Kenwood and West Chester locations each have eight pedicure tubs to accommodate the large groups.

Special occasion updo and makeup application with your wedding party, either in salon or on location. And remember the most important thing: Enjoy your special day!
