It's All About Love

Venue cover model Sarah Flanigan may be single, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t feel right at home at a wedding reception.

“I absolutely love weddings. In fact, I love them so much that I’d say being an avid weddinggoer is a hobby of mine,” Flanigan says, with a chuckle. “If that could be a profession — being a wedding date —that would be mine. That’s how much I enjoy it.”

She appreciates the beautiful wedding gowns but adores the fun that accompanies the party — particularly the dancing, since hip-hop is one of her favorite pastimes. Her other is singing in the band at Crossroads Uptown Church.

“Being a part of that team is so wonderful,” says Flanigan. “Plus, it has boosted my confidence and brought me to a different place in my relationship with God and loving myself.”

When she began attending Crossroads, she was surrounded by people her own age and thought it would be cool to take that leap to be a part of the worship team.

“I’m super outgoing and love being around people, so as you can imagine, COVID times are very hard on me!” says Flanigan, 26, whose true passion is teaching preschoolers.

“Every day is a blessing to be able to impact my kids,” says Flanigan. “It’s the most beautiful thing.”

She had been pursuing an education degree when she decided to take a sabbatical from school. During that time, she worked as a teacher’s aide for one of her friends; that job solidified her career choice.

“I realized that I really did want to be a teacher myself, so I went back to school and earned my degree,” says Flanigan. This year, due to the pandemic, Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) received a large influx of online learners, so CPS asked Flanigan to teach kindergarteners in the digital academy.

“They keep me laughing, and honestly, I consider laughing another hobby of mine,” says Flanigan. That’s why she gravitates to romance and comedy. “I love love, and I love to laugh!”
